He had an abdominal aortic aneurysm, which unfortunately ruptured. Ernie was my stepdad, but he was always my daddy from the day we met him. He was a loving caring man who lived for his family. He meant everything to me and I loved him very much, he is deeply missed every day. To dad I was always Duchess I wont let anyone call me that anymore I was Dad's Duchess, and it doesn't feel right for anyone else to call me Duchess.
Hugs From Heaven
by Charlotte Anselmo
When you feel a gentle breeze
Caress you when you sigh
It's a hug sent from Heaven
From a loved one way up high.
If a soft and tender raindrop
Lands upon your nose
They've added a small kiss
As fragile as a rose.
If a song you hear fills you
With a feeling of sweet love
It's a hug sent from Heaven
From someone special up above.
If you awaken in the morning
To a bluebird's chirping song
It's music sent from Heaven
To cheer you all day long.
If tiny little snowflakes
Land upon your face
It's a hug sent from Heaven
Trimmed with Angel lace.
So keep the joy in your heart
If you're lonely my dear friend
Hugs that are sent from Heaven
A broken heart will mend.
My lovely daddy
My darling dad died very suddenly on 22nd June 2006. Thankfully we had all been to see him on Fathers day the previous Sunday, I'll always been thankful for that. My dad was my rock, he had a great sense of humour, even when he was in the hospital in great pain, he was still trying to cheer us all up. He had his oxygen mask on the side of his head and told me he was going to Ascot and asked me did I like his hat, I was laughing through my tears. Dad loved mum to bits and she misses him, as we all do. He has always been there for me. When I first left home he still used to come and take me shopping, he'd drop what he was doing and take me where ever I needed to go, he never compained. He always called me his Duchess, that was very special and no one else is allowed to call me that anymore, it was dads name for me. We knew that dad had an aneurysm, although we didn't know how serious it was. It was a great shock and very sudden when he died. He was not on his own, Mum me and all my brothers and sisters were with him, holding his hand and comforting him as he slipped away. The day dad was cremated, a Butterfly flew from the top of his coffin all around us and then just dissapeared, I've since discovered that butterflies are the symbol of life after death. I cant tell you how much comfort that has bought to us all. Dad is up there looking down on us all, laughing and crying with us all, and sometimes, no doubt, screaming at us!! I know that everyone says that they have a dad in a million, but my dad truly was one in a million. I always used to tell him that I loved him millions and trillions and billions. That will always be the same. My love for him will never die. I love you daddy millions and trillions and billions for ever and always.
